Multimedia Filters

Turbidity, which is the most obvious pollution parameter in all waters, consists of the factors such as suspended solid, organic matter, silica, and sediment. Among these pollutants, those with a certain diameter are purified by the multimedia filtration units. In the sand filters, water is filtered by passing through the layers of sand, gravel and anthracite of various diameters at an appropriate speed. At the same time, protection of the other equipment that comes after the sand filters is ensured. After a certain operating time in the system, sediments accumulate on the filter mineral. In this case, the system automatically adjusts itself to the backwashing. Backwashing is the process of high flow water flowing in the opposite direction of the water flow in normal operation, washing the filter mineral and removing the settled sediment from the environment. The regeneration process in the sand filters can be made automatically according to the desired time or pressure difference without the need for any human intervention. The most important parameters affecting the efficiency of the multimedia filter are the mineral amounts, correct sequence, chemical structure, granulometric properties and the correct selection of the filtration speed. In a filter that is well-embedded and the filtration rate is selected in accordance with the pollution load, the filtration sensitivity is below 15-20 microns. Filtration units are the basic systems that should be in the water treatment system. The systems consist of 3 main equipment; control unit, filter body and filter media. Fully automatic Fleck valves are used as the control unit.
