It can be used safely in areas where general purpose antiscalant is needed, including open-circuit cooling water and similar industrial applications. While it prevents the precipitation of calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate with the threshold effect, it also modifies the crystal growth. It is also a good dispersant for many common mineral and insoluble contaminants. Thanks to the polycarboxylic acids it contains, it prevents the formation of hard shells, and thanks to the anionic copolymers, it disperses the colloidal particles and prevents them from causing clogging.
